Hey, just thought I'd post something for folks dropping by here...
Things have been pretty quiet on the Pulp Girls front for a while, but I'm still developing it moving forward, with love and insanity, so please stay patient, and stay tuned to this space.

SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2010

After debuting a limited edition convention book at the 2009 show, we'll be back in 2010 exhibiting in the small press pavilion space L7 with not one, but two new books with all new content!

While the Pulp Girls project is is still in pre-production, we can't help but share some of the exciting work that's being created, so we have two 16 page comics featuring two of our exciting concepts, Swiss Army Woman and Vampblade.

These new books will be limited to only 100 copies each and sell for $5. Both contain one full story:

Swiss Army Woman

By myself and new artist to the project Chris Mullins (SKAD student), along with a never before published Swiss Army Woman sketchbook section!

Vampblade

By myself and Justin Wayne (Nosferatu OGN Viper Comics), with the first full Vampblade story and several pages from the next part, all showcasing Justin's amazing inked and toned linework (and only offered in this version)!

Limited, gorgeous, eye popping, and in your face!

If you can't make it to the show, we'll have the books available here until the show opens, just check the store section!

PULP GIRLS sketch cards out now!

The Pulp Girls sketch card set (one half of the 5finity Jam series, also featuring Jim Mahfood's mix tape) was released this week, but pre sold out completely by 5finity.

We did have a limited amount of "packs" available for pre sale here, and now only have 18 of those remaining up for grabs, which will be placed on eBay shortly (or email jason@superrealgraphics).

Here's a look at the final packaging artwork - some of our titular girls in action - created by myself and Ralph Neise:

Obviously an homage to Herb Trimpe's classic GI Joe issue number 1 cover art, for the original Marvel Comics series (a personal favorite book)!

PULP GIRLS sketch card pre sales

Okay folks, with the release of the 5FINITY JAM sketch card series featuring PULP GIRLS just over a month away, we are now able to start taking pre orders for the card packs!

Remember, for 5finity a card pack is equal to one original artist sketch card randomly inserted from the artist list on the set. The packs themselves retail for $24.95 msrp, and we have a limited amount to offer from the already limited set run of 600, at the special price of $20 each.

Packs also include the following extras (for the Jam, 1200 card - two series, full set):

75 rare artist sketch cards (1:16 packs)
75 hot packs with 2-3 sketch cards (1:16 packs)
20 prismatic holofoil sketch cards (1:60 packs)
20 commission request redemption cards (1:60 packs)
4 ruby embedded sketch cards (1:300 packs)

There is some AMAZING talent here, and many many many new artists doing their first ever sketch cards, along with some big name sketch card artists doing their first work for 5finity! It's very exciting.

For those who aren't familiar, sketch cards are 2.5 by 3.5 inch trading cards with handmade original artwork that are completely unique, one of a kind, and highly collectible. An affordable way to collect original artwork, from a wide variety of artists, from a variety of backgrounds (comics, animation, video games, freelance, etc).

We couldn't be more proud of the sketch card set that we've put together with 5finity for Pulp Girls!

PULP GIRLS sketch cards

In production now, and releasing July 15th, 5finity will be producing Pulp Girls sketch cards in conjunction with the creators involved in the Pulp Girls project.

For those unfamiliar with sketch cards, they're hand drawn trading cards, often included in trading card sets as rare cards... 2.5x3.5" pieces of original artwork. 5finity is a sketch card company that solely produces sketch cards, selling the highly desirable original art cards directly to collectors, as opposed to making customers buy a whole case of trading cards to get a single sketch card.

5finity keeps pretty tight wraps on set info, but I can tell you it will be a fairly limited production run, and that we also have most the actual Pulp Girls artists, as well as many more exciting creators, working on the set (several who are new to sketch cards, as well as some heavy hitters in the sketch card world)!!

That's right, hundreds of cards with eye-popping artwork from cool artists, based on our bad ass genre girls! No base cards, just sketch cards... guaranteed original artwork in every pack.
All killer, no filler!

Additionally, the Pulp Girls card set will be part of the "5finity Jam" card set, in tandem with Jim Mahfood's Mix Tape!

5finity card sets always sell out fast, so we'll post more info here as we can.
I can however tell you, we'll have a good portion of the release available directly once pre-orders are available.

Pulp Girls debuts at Comic-Con 09

What is Pulp Girls?

Pulp Girls will be debuting at San Diego Comic-Con 2009, at the Super Real Graphics booth, 5331 (in the independent publishers area at the front of the hall).

We'll have a limited edition 2009 convention book available at the show, while supplies last, that showcases the upcoming project.

The books are limited to 250 copies, and are an over-sized 8.5x11" perfect bound format, in full color, and feature 72 pages of Pulp Girls content!

To give you a better idea though, before getting your hands on the book, Pulp Girls is a collection of concepts - inspired from grindhouse cinema, pulp heroes, and similar genre roots - in small cliffhanger style format, all with a female-centric twist.
In your face, fun, dangerous, colorful, short, and sweet.

GIRLS + WEAPONS x DANGER = PULP GIRLS

Ever since the release of the Grindhouse double-feature, there's been a shift in the pop-art/comic world, and a move to the more subversive genre fare that inspired that film. And while it didn't set any box office records, it's impact can be seen everywhere in comics, from the pulpy books on the rise, to the retro color effects and cover designs seen industry wide.
Pulp Girls is a celebration of that spirit, taking it to another level.
The artists, concepts, characters, and themes all share a similar drive, that provides for both unique stories and art, that also complement each other perfectly!
Rock'n'roll midnight movie serials.

The project features many talented creators, from across the globe...
England, Ireland, Germany, Norway, France, Mexico, and of course, the good ol' U S of A!
Just to name a few.

The Boo (Transformers Animated), Jerry Gaylord (ID Comics), Grant Gould (Star Wars the Clone Wars online), Josh Howard (Dead@17), Jason Martin (Super Real), Dan Mendoza (Zombie Tramp), Hector Sevilla (Marvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular), Nate Stockman, Bob Strang, Justin Wayne, and many more!

Basically, the same contemporary, colorful, animated house style I employ with Super Real Graphics.

The 09 convention books have several of our complete serials, early versions of others, as well as some teasers, and pinups, in addition to an art section from our cover artist, the astonishing Bob Strang.
It’s really like an art book with comics, and as such, the book will make a great addition to both your reading stack, and your bookshelf!
We truly have some amazing artists, characters, and stories featured here.
